Reed Sarver – President and Chief Executive Officer
Reed has extensive senior management experience growing technology companies and businesses in the energy-related area. Prior to Zolo, Reed served as President and CEO of StrionAir, a Carlyle Group venture capital funded company, where he led a successful revitalization of the company. Reed’s leadership efforts led to the acquisition of StrionAir by Carrier Corporation a division of United Technologies Corporation. Reed also spent 17 years at Pall Corporation NYSE: PLL in various leadership roles, including his last position as President of Pall Aeropower. Reed holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological University.
Dr. Andrew Sappey – Chief Technology Officer
Dr. Andrew Sappey received his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Kenyon College, Gambier, Ohio in 1982 and his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 1988. Dr. Sappey continued his education during a two-year post-doctoral stint at SRI International, Menlo Park, California in the Molecular Physics Laboratory developing laser-based combustion diagnostics. After SRI, Dr. Sappey took a position at Los Alamos National Laboratory as a staff member where he worked on laser-based diagnostic methods for a variety of applications. In 1994, Dr. Sappey left Los Alamos to pursue a career in the private sector. This experience included working at ADA Technologies on several SBIR programs to develop optical sensors for stack monitoring applications. In December of 1999, Dr. Sappey co- founded Zolo Technologies, to develop optical multiplexers for the telecom market. After the telecom market failed to meet expectations, Dr. Sappey worked to redefine Zolo’s mission, eventually adopting Zolo’s current multiplexed combustion sensor focus. Dr. Sappey is the author of numerous scientific papers, articles, and patents.
Newton Logan – Vice-President Operations and Chief Financial Officer
Newton Logan joined Zolo Technologies in 2005 as the Director of Manufacturing. Prior to joining Zolo he was Vice President of Operations at Research Electro-Optics in Boulder, CO for five years. His other work experience includes six years with two medical device companies and twelve years with Spectra-Physics. Mr. Logan received an MBA from the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and he holds a BA in Economics from Colorado College.
Ken Grieshaber – Vice President Business Development
Ken joined Zolo Technologies in January, 2013. Ken has more than 25 years of experience in technical sales, business development and product commercialization. He has worked extensively within the metals, chemicals and capital equipment industries. Zolo is Ken’s third early stage technology company. He headed up sales and business development for an advanced materials company and prior to that led the sales organization for a high tech start up hydrogen producing company which resulted in a successful sale. Ken spent the majority of his career with Linde where he held several senior marketing and management positions, including global director of combustion industries, general manager for commercializing new technologies and director of the metals market sector for the Americas. He began his career working in operations and quality control at Republic Steel. Ken earned his Bachelor of Science degree in metallurgical engineering from Lehigh University, and Master of Science in management from Purdue University.
Greg Heilbrunn – Vice President Industrial Markets
Greg joined Zolo Technologies in May, 2014 and has spent more than 28 years in senior level leadership roles in sales, marketing, business development, and product management with Fortune 500 companies. Prior to joining Zolo, he served as Senior Vice President for Pall Corporation’s industrial businesses serving Chemical/Petrochemical, Refining, Power Generation, and Industrial Manufacturing markets with revenue exceeding $1.5B. Mr. Heilbrunn also held key leadership roles with Vivendi Environmental and Memtec America to exploit the company’s core innovations, technology strengths and commercial value in multiple market verticals. Greg holds a BS in Chemistry from Hobart College.
Bill Grant – Vice President Engineering
Bill comes to Zolo with ample experience in optical, materials and signal processing industries. Bill has worked in a variety of demanding environments ranging from nascent technology development at venture-backed companies to large scale capital equipment engineering and installation at a Fortune 500 company. He previously held technical and operational positions at Research Electro-Optics, Power Tagging Technologies (Division of Lockheed Martin and Dominion Power) and Vapor Technologies (Division of Masco). Bill received his Bachelor of Science from The University of Wisconsin at Madison in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering before moving to Colorado to earn his Master of Science in Materials Science from Colorado School of Mines. He holds several patents and has co-authored numerous technical papers.
