Better Measurement, Better Results

Traditional sensors do not permit measurements directly in the furnace due to the harsh environment. Furthermore, a few “point” measurements may not represent the true combustion profile. The ZoloBOSS combustion monitoring system utilizes TDLAS technology to measures key combustion constituents such as temperature, O2 and CO directly in the furnace and provides a better profile representation to allow operators to balance and optimize combustion.

Single ZoloBOSS System: Multiple Species and Multiple Paths

Each ZoloBOSS system simultaneously measures the average concentration of H2O, O2, CO and temperature along each laser path. A single ZoloBOSS system can accommodate multiple paths which can be arranged to provide a real-time profile of the combustion process for each constituent with much higher resolution than a few “points”. Arrangement of the paths depends on the firing-type (tangential or wall-fired); combustion improvement objectives and physical access around the furnace.

Actionable Information Allows Fireball Centering and Balancing

The ZoloBOSS interface provides actionable information to identify localized imbalances of O2 and CO. Operators and/or combustion optimizer software can adjust specific air/fuel settings (i.e. secondary air, over-fired air and fuel bias) based on correlations with the ZoloBOSS measurements in order to manipulate the fireball and balance the combustion profiles. Once combustion is balanced, excess O2 levels can be reduced to improve overall efficiency and reduce emissions.
