Opportunities at Zolo

Work on what actually matters.

At Zolo Carbon Smartech, we build technology that helps keep critical industrial systems safe, reliable, and under control. Our work lives inside furnaces, boilers, and high-consequence environments—where clarity, discipline, and trust are non-negotiable.

If you’re motivated by real-world impact, technical rigor, and solving problems that don’t have shortcuts, you’ll feel at home here.

What we do

We develop advanced, laser-based combustion monitoring systems that provide real-time, in-furnace insight. Our technology supports safer operation, improved asset life, emissions stability, and better performance across demanding operating conditions.

This isn’t theoretical work. It’s practical, deployable, and used in environments where decisions matter.

How we work
  • We value clarity over noise
  • We prioritize reliability over hype
  • We believe discipline builds trust
  • We respect the people who operate, maintain, and rely on the systems we support

Our teams collaborate closely across engineering, field operations, and customer support to ensure what we build works—consistently and under pressure.

OPEN POSITIONS

Software Engineer

Full Time

We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our Engineering & Technology team. In this role, you will contribute to the development, testing, and maintenance of software that supports Zolo’s combustion monitoring platforms.

You will work closely with other engineers and cross-functional teams to implement and support software that interfaces with hardware, instrumentation, and deployed systems. The focus of this role is on building reliable, production-ready software and supporting ongoing product improvements.

This is not a pure web or consumer software role. It is well suited for engineers interested in systems-oriented development and hardware-adjacent software, working primarily from an office or hybrid environment.

Core Engineering Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and maintain reliable software components following established design and coding practices.
  • Implement software features and enhancements based on defined requirements and design guidance.
  • Contribute to documentation and testing to support long-term maintainability.

Systems & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with hardware engineers, systems integration, service, and production teams to support integrated solutions.
  • Assist with hardware–software integration and internal validation efforts.
  • Participate in code and design reviews as a contributor.

Operational Support

  • Support investigation and resolution of software issues identified in deployed systems, primarily through log analysis, diagnostics, and internal tools.
  • Provide technical input to service and support teams as needed.
  • Incorporate operational feedback into software updates and refinements.

Engineering Practices & Growth

  • Write clear, maintainable, and well-documented code.
  • Follow established development standards and contribute to continuous improvement of tools and practices.
  • Grow technical skills through collaboration with more experienced engineers and exposure to real-world systems.

Required

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Approximately 5+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming and software design principles.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language commonly used in industrial or scientific systems (e.g., Python, C#, Java, and LabVIEW
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks while collaborating effectively with a team.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with LabVIEW or similar instrumentation-focused environments.
  • Familiarity with databases (SQL or NoSQL) and API integrations.
  • Exposure to front-end frameworks used for internal tools or operator interfaces (e.g., React, Angular).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) in hybrid or on-prem environments.
  • Experience with containerization (Docker), CI/CD pipelines, or automated testing frameworks.

This role is based in Louisville, CO, US.

Travel is not expected and would be limited to rare, planned occasions if needed.

  • Competitive salary and benefits package with potential for annual performance bonuses
  • Flexible hybrid work arrangements
  • Opportunity to work on meaningful industrial technology used in real-world operations
  • Collaborative, supportive engineering culture
  • Professional development and growth opportunities

Interested candidates should send their resume and a brief cover letter describing their interest and relevant experience to careers@zolotech.com.
